Your First Visit

If you have not already done so, once you arrive at the office you will be asked to complete some brief paper work and sign our HIPAA Release as well as Informed Consent forms. The new patient paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition.

Consultation

After the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors or one of our trained chiropractic assistants. They will discuss the reason for your visit, your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options and answer any questions you might have.

History and Examination

After discussing your current condition and/or symptoms, the examiner will take a brief health history to obtain some background information. In order to determine what your actual problem is, you will be asked various questions related to your condition. Next, the examiner will perform a few specific, specialized movement checks to determine your range of motion and if certain movements cause an increase or decrease in pain levels. These specialized tests will help determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

X-ray Studies

Most likely taking a limited series of x-rays will be required. This helps the doctor determine what exactly is going on with your spinal condition and will assist in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. X-rays also help rule out more serious conditions.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, you will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be asked to schedule a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days for a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time and the Doctor will recommend a care plan, along with reviewing your insurance coverage, if applicable and going over our fees. Care will commence once a course of action is agreed upon.

Your Second Visit

Report of Findings

On your second visit, the Doctor will present to you his "report of findings" This report is a synopsis of what was found during your health history, examination and x-rays. The doctor will answer the four major questions that most new patients ask: (1) What caused my problem? (2) Can chiropractic help my problem? (3) How long will it take to correct? (4) How much will this cost. Please feel free to ask any additional questions that you may have. Once the treatment plan has been agreed upon, care will commence. After your first treatment, one of our chiropractic assistants will schedule your next and subsequent visits, based on the doctors recommendations for care.

It is important that you adhere to your care schedule and participate in the stretching program as closely as possible to receive the most benefits from chiropractic.
